After two years of intense technological research by Kartell, the Piuma chair by Piero Lissoni is now in production.
Among the most exciting news from Milan Design Week is that Kartell's Piuma chair by Piero Lissoni is now in production.
Piuma aims to be the thinnest, lightest and most durable industrial chair in the world. It is ultra-light weighing only 2kg and is 2mm thick.
This design is a real breakthrough in the world of industrial design: it's the first time that a material containing carbon fibre has been injection moulded.
Carbon fibre is a compound that comes from completely different sectors of the industry - automotive and aeronautics - and was therefore completely unprecedented in the world of furnishings.
Thanks to this unprecedented mix of materials, the Piuma is not only extremely light and slender but also incredibly durable, flexible, suitable for outdoor use and foldable.
Kartell x Lapo: It's a wrap!
Lapo Elkann and Garage Italia Customs have reinterpreted some of Kartell's most iconic products using a special car wrapping technique.
The special limited-edition collection is showing in Milan at Kartell x Lapo in the Brera district.
Kartell products have been customised using the traditional colours of countries' flags - red and white for Japan, for example - those of the automotive industry, or with fashion patterns such as houndstooth, pinstripe and tartan.
